The CRM won't let me have duplicate emails or phones: how does it group and merge contacts?

So your contact base doesn't fill up with repeated records, the CRM controls duplicates by email or phone: it warns you on creation, detects possible duplicates you already have and lets you merge them into a single record.

  1. 1When you create a contact with an email or phone that ALREADY exists, the CRM doesn't create another: it reuses the existing one and warns you. When editing a record, it also won't let you set an email/phone that another contact already has.
  2. 2If you already have duplicates, «Contacts» shows a «N possible duplicates» notice (grouped by email or phone, even if one matches by email and another by phone).
  3. 3Click «Review and merge»: for each group, choose the record to keep (it suggests the one with the most activity) and click «Merge».
  4. 4On merge, everything from the absorbed records moves to the one you keep (proposals, opportunities, tasks, notes, relatives, emails and tags) and the others are deleted.

Consejo: Merging is permanent (it moves everything and deletes the leftover records), so double-check which one you keep as the main record before confirming.
